Tales and tidbits about everyone’s favorite tomato-based cocktail.
Local food writer Diane Peterson’s stint as a judge at Mendocino’s Second Annual Bloody Mary Competition earlier this year inspired her to dig into the history of this classic cocktail. The event benefitted parks in Mendocino County as part of the 2022 MendoParks Whale Festival. Six teams of mixologists stirred up a range of Bloody Marys at the Little River Inn, which hosted the contest.
Check out Diane’s article which contains some fascinating trivia around the drink as well as a number of recipes, including the Kimchee Blood Mary from Bird & The
Bottle and the “Bloody Maury” from Grossman’s Noshery & Bar.
